SIZE GUIDE

Story

The Mt. Tam hiking boot is ideal for going off-road or straight to the pub. Named after the highest point in Marin County, California where Samuel Hubbard is based, this boot is ready for walking country roads or navigating city sidewalks in style.

We use a lightweight Vibram® Carrarmato lug sole and like all Hubbard shoes, these can be resoled. Our removable triple-density, Poron® memory foam insoles cradle your feet. We hand-craft these boots with a special, oil-tanned leather developed in partnership with our tanner. This very natural-looking leather has a beautiful soft 'hand' and resists water.

These boots are fully leather lined in glove-soft cowhide leather that is hung inside the shoe with soft padding surrounding the foot. Our own reaction when we built the first prototype was that it felt like a cross between a hiking boot and a bedroom slipper. But, don't take our word for it. Let your own feet be the judge.

Sizing

The Mt Tam was designed to give you a generous fit with plenty of room for your toes. If this is your first pair of Hubbards, you'll likely find them true to size.

*If you already wear a shoe from our Active Outdoor collection, you'll wear the same size in the Mt Tam.
*If you already wear a shoe from our Dress Collection these may feel slightly roomier in the toe box.

I have an ankle that has had three surgery's on it due to it being crushed in an accident. I am picky when wearing boots as it doesn't take much for the ankle to get inflamed and sore. My father turned me onto Samuel Hubbard and so I thought I would give them a try. I am in sales and on my feet all day. I walk over 6,000 steps per day (my watch says so...ha!) and these boots are the lightest, softest, most supportive boots I have ever worn! I will continue to rave about these boots, just wanted others not within speaking distance to know my experience. Thank you for making a quality boot! I will be a customer from now on.

These are great boots - great fit, and great looks. One of my boots had a defective eye loop which I reported, and new boots were shipped to me within weeks of the call. Several people have stopped me on the street to ask where I got the boots. Hubbard is a great company.

This is my third pair of Hubbards. Same great feel and quality in a rather heavy duty boot. When they had a 'black Friday" special, I jumped on it and I'm glad I did. Richard

These boots are very easy to put on and like all Samuel Hubbard foot ware are instant comfort. I look forward to all year long use. They will be especially appreciated in Chicago's winter season. My hat is off to you Samuel Hubbard!!!

These are wonderful shoes. VERY comfortable, beautiful leather, quick to get on and off and lace up. The only suggestion I could make would be a finger behind the tendon to help pull them on over thick socks.

I didn't realise the older I got the more my feet would become high maintenance.

These boots are great, but also each other pair of shoe I've ordered from SH has been superb.

I appreciate price is not exactly cheap (depending on your budget, of course) but the investment is worth it; like purchasing a good mattress, shoes are just as important because if you're not in one, you're in the other (!).

I'd really encourage you to try a pair.

Product Questions

Re my Mt Tam boots in Saddlebag brown, what is recommended for cleaning and refreshing the exterior? 06.05.18
Hi Pete, you can clean your Mt. Tams with saddle soap, and then polish with a neutral color, or quick shine. Most grocery and drug stores have a shoe care isle where these items can be found. For the soles, check the home cleaning isle for a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser- we find that does a great job cleaning the soles.
Is it water proof and/or insulated? 06.06.18
Hello! Thank you for your question. We hand-craft these boots with a special, oil-tanned leather developed in partnership with our tanner. While not completely waterproof, this very natural-looking leather has a beautiful soft 'hand' and resists water. These boots are fully leather lined in glove-soft cowhide leather that is hung inside the shoe with soft padding surrounding the foot.
My husband wears a 4 or 5 e width will these fit him. 06.15.18
Hello, thank you for your inquiry. Unfortuantely, I do not think these boots will work for your husband. While we do have them available in wide, our wide is an EE, so they would likely pinch the sides of his feet.
