Story

Introducing Camplight. 80-or-so years back, an outdoor enthusiast on the eastern seaboard set out to craft a shoe that mimicked the sewing techniques found in traditional Native American moccasins. With hand-sewn uppers, adjustable top laces and flexible rubber soles, the summer classic was dubbed "the camp moc." Our 4-season take on this has a leather lining for sockless comfort, and the lug sole gives this former summertime staple year-round utility. In short, it’s your new "go-to" that crosses the country and the calendar. Work or play? Sport coat or t-shirt? Either way, you’ll be one happy camper.

Leather is very soft and comfortable. My foot slides inside the shoe, and I would really like something more snug. The thick sole, although extremely comfortable, is somewhat stiff; which makes my foot slip more inside the shoe. I find that I walk carefully with these shoes, because of the fit.

Leather lining is extremely comfortable. Appearance great. Overall very satisfied. Sole complaint (pun intended) is the the vertical depth of the sole at the heel is about 1/4 inch too high. If vertical depth of the sole were uniform throughout, the shoe would be near perfect. You might consider a separate version with the sole of a typical boat shoe.

I had never bought a pair of shoes for more than $100 before, but last Fall my wife convinced me to buy a nice pair of Hubbards I could use for both dress and (upscale) casual. Got them. Loved them.
Now I've bought another pair (actually 2). The Camplights bring back memories of old "topsiders" from my New England upbringing - except much better construction and unparalleled comfort. They look great, the fit great - they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn - with the exception of my original pair (which are just as comfortable).
I'd still be shy about paying anyone $200 for a pair of shoes - but not Samuel Hubbard! I'm never shopping anywhere else again.
