Story
  • The oil-impregnated leather exterior has a wax topcoat to stay soft and repel water.
  • The use of a nearly century-old technique called siping (cutting thin slits across a rubber surface to improve traction) has resulted in our custom no-slip, shock absorbent rubber sole.
  • Full glove-leather lining delivers buttery soft feel, superior breathability, and eliminates pressure points.
  • Padded tongue and collar.
  • Triple-Density memory foam insole, topped in silky smooth leather. Easily removed if you wish to use your own orthotics or need to replace.
  • Designed in Mill Valley, CA. Handcrafted in Portugal.

Overall Review
I'd rate this shoe a 3.75 overall. It is a great looking shoe. Well made and from a fine company. Problem is--for me--the last. It's a better fit than the slip-on Travelers. However, the uppers at the back on the outside rub against my ankle bone to the point it bleeds. No shoe should make your foot bleed. I'm struggling to work up a callous in place of the scabs. I won't give up on this pair, but it'll take time.

I like the shoe, but the it's tight unlike the other Samuel Hubbard shoes I have purchased. They are comfortable, but the bridge is too tight.

Only a few weeks old, so not much other than an initial impression. I normally wear a 10.5W in most Hubbards. No W available, so I ordered the 11M. I also have the laced boat shoes which have stretched out a bit. I can't tell the difference between the two in size... which could mean that the no laces version feels a bit smaller because of the construction. Love them so far. Perfect shoe (I bought the blue) with jeans. Thanks for making boat shoes...much appreciated.

These don't just slide by on their good looks, although they could. Their beauty is obvious from the photo, but what's less so is just how well crafted these fine shoes are. The sole is an engineering marvel. Old-timey use of siping, which uses slits across the bottom sole to give better grip, coupled with flying-in-first-class comfort make these a must have.

This is my ninth pair of Hubbards ...... picked up a pair 2 years ago and have been adding to my collection since... these shoes can be worn an entire day right out of the box ..... these are the only shoes i wear .... I have been very glad to see more casual shoes added the last year.

I wave worn Sperry Billfish slip-on's for 20 years. I love them, but as I've gotten older they don't fit like they used to. I tried others but the Hubbard's get the job done. Comfortable from the moment I put them on and I love the blue color. They're my new go to shoe for the summer and my 6th pair of Hubbard's.

Company easy to order from, which makes the impossibility of finding products in retail outlets, including Nordstrom, easier to accept.

The comfort level is more marketing than experienced.

I expect to order the Frequent Traveler in Whisky for one more experience.
