The best places to explore in Savannah

The open-air City Market is a staple of Savannah life since it was formed in the 1700s. What began as a mix of a fresh fish, farmers and meat markets has transformed into many different shops, local food stalls, and art installations. The most well-known attraction of Savannah is its 22 outdoor squares each with its own landscaping and greenery. You cannot walk more than three blocks downtown in any direction and find yourself in a new park. Each park has its own uniqueness but the cool shade makes them all the perfect place to sit back and enjoy the fresh air. Stroll along the Savannah River down the cobblestone River Street. While you walk down the waterfront, be on the lookout for one of the tourist riverboats or massive barges chugging along downstream. At the southern tip of downtown Savannah is Forsyth Park, the largest green area within the city. This park is a popular destination for both tourists and locals, with plenty of shade to relax and open areas to exercise or lay back and sunbathe. Make sure to get a photo in front of The Forsyth Park Fountain which dates back to 1858. Do not miss out on a walk down Broughton Street. Make your way into as many of the danity boutiques that line the street as your heart desires. This is the best spot to get yourself or a loved one a local gift.
